So...I'm at home. And I apparently get to celebrate Chanukkah not once tonight...but twice!
I have time to have a quick one with my family, and we're bringing a chanukiah up to the cottage, so double chanukkah!

Alas, I left my Orhan Pamuk book in Guelph, like a moron. Luckily, Darien lent me his English books, which so far are really good.

Good things about being home: latkes, mattresses, showers, the fact that my sister had two guys at school get into a fist-fight over her (how awesome is that?!)
Bad thins: my cousin, who has stolen my room, apparently likes Nickelback and Creed. And plays them loudly. Ewww.....

So...to all of you who I didn't say a proper goodbye to:

Have a great break, happy holidays, and all that sort of jazz, if you're going anywhere, have fun there...and see you all in a few weeks time.

I had another worm dream last night. T his time, I was the carnivore. I was eating platefulls of worms, until I got disgusted, and went to the backyard to spit them out. And my whole backyard was covered in writhing worms. I hope dreams don't mean anything.

To counterract worminess, and worst-days-ever, I bought a book that I have really wanted to read for a long time. Also, it's supposed to rain today at 2, and now that I trust the Weather Network again, this means I can look forward to getting off work early.

It's a cheat sheet for christianity. Highlites include:

The Pope
The Pope is the President of Christianity. He is elected every four years by the Congress of Cardinals, which is divided into the Senate and the Holy House of Representatives. As president, the pope can veto important pieces of legislation, which he tends to do. The pope is also magical, and cannot be seen with the naked eye except for one hour on Christmas Eve every year.

Touchdown Jesus
When professional athletes thank Jesus for helping them win a game, this is the Jesus they're referring to.

and other brilliance. My only disagreement is with the statement that Francis of Asissi is the Derek Jeter of Catholics. I hate Jeter, and I like Francis.

For no discernible reason, my family went on a geneology craze tonight, and after three hours or so of research, we have a pretty solid family tree for one branch of my family that goes back to the most famous rabbi in Judaism, who lived around the 1000s, and another branch that goes back to some rabbi in the year 780. I also have discovered that I'm related to a Stalin-era Soviet Filmmarker, whose films I now want to see, and although I already knew I was related to the publishers of the best edition of the Talmud ever printed, I now know how.

Other exciting things about today include the cancellation of work, the going to of Guelph (where I bought English textbooks), and the discovery of the fact that there is indeed a man named Voros McCracken, which has to be the most absurd name ever. But he is real. He invented dIPS.

And, if anything in the world could make me want to go see a Ron Howard movie starring Tom Hanks, it would have to be the knowledge that paying money for that movie would piss off James Dobson.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/11/us/11davinci.html?hp&ex=1147406400&en=0d5ab08def0098ed&ei=5094&partner=homepage

I kinda feel bad for the one pastor who says "It's very important for some Christians at least to be able to engage in an intelligent discussion." Yeah. That's the approach that Focus on the Family will take. Totally. Poor guy. It must be hard being so sane when you're surrounded by such nutbars.

Weekend: Wonder Showzen, Brak Show (Roll him in pancakes!), Aqua Teen Hunger Force (666 slices of meat from a beast whose blood is made of maggots), Harvey Birdman, Jays Game, Godfather = awesome
Lack of Radiohead tickets, pool-opening = not-so-awesome

For all you folks who are bemoaning your Radiohead-less fates, I recommend checking e-bay and such places out.

Also, for Hillside, weekend passes are indeed sold out, and since they're too disorganized to release a full fucking setlist before selling tickets, I have no idea which day is the best to get single day tickets for, I'm just going to wait and see who's playing when, and buy tickets later.

And I think most volunteer positions are probably taken already. But free weekend pass if you get it!

well, today was a really awesome day. instead of my usual shovelling of dirt until i die, i only shovelled dirt until 10:30. then i got to go around with a broom and sweep for a while, which was easy. and then i got to use the leafblower, which involved me putting on ear and eye protectors, and walking around with what looks like a cross between the BFG from doom and ghostbusters gun strapped to my back. it's fun and easy! and then, after that, my boss didn't make me do anything! he just drove me around and tried to get me to confirm the validity of teh gospels in a roundabout way (at least that's what i think he was doing...). and, he also might be able to let me work there for the whole summer, instead of just till june, and pay me two dollars an hour more. an excellent day.

but best of all, tomorrow i get to sleep in. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
oh, and radiohead tickets tomorrow! everyone go!

and, does anyone else want to go to hillside? if so, volunteering? or jsut paying?

You are an atheist, pure and simple. You think God is just one big lie, and consider religious people to be both annoying and beneath you. Ardent atheists will argue tooth and claw for their position, and have no truck with people that won't listen. You think being an atheist is the only way to lead an honest life, and see no reason to accept the pleas of faith. Ardent atheists are the backbone of atheism. Be proud.

im not sure if my fingers work much anymore. i can type, apparently, but i cant close my fist, and cracking my knuckles is unbearably painful. also, my back and legs are completely useless. work will kill me. this is my conclusion.

also, the internet is being a dick, and only works for like, 10 minutes out of a given hour. and since i'm so tired from work, i sleep through that ten minutes (and more), and only wake up when its broken again.

on the bright side, futurama is awesome. they've been playing shitty simpsons for some reason, but futurama is totally rocking my socks.
and concerts. concerts start soon!

radiohead tickets on sale this saturday! buy for june 8th, the second day! go! go! go!

also, i'll be in guelph this weekend, at some point.
